Istanbul is a city of convergence. The past brushes up against the present, cultures and traditions intermingle, the rush of humanity dances with quiet moments. The week I recently spent there was a delight of the senses, waking up my personal infrastructure, broadening my perspective.
Sometimes we need the immersive experience of travel to remind us that there is much more outside AND within us than we could ever comprehend. To open yourself freely to both the joy and discomfort of that journey is one of the things that makes life truly remarkable. My time away furthered my desire to take more risks and quiet the fearful mind, hold tightly to my personal sense of intuition and knowing, and revel in the astonishing beauty of human connections however brief or lasting they may be.
Here are just a few of my favorite images from that week, each of which captures distinctive memories of wonder.
